Outfit for the Office
Do you ever struggle putting together an outfit that can be worn to work, but isn’t too dressy/professional? More of like a cute casual office look that can be dressed up or down? Guess what? I got you!
Working from home has become the norm — and we all have those friends who get the option of working from home. Unfortunately, not everyone is so lucky. And when I say everyone I mean me — and possibly you. Getting dressed to go to the office shouldn’t be a daunting task. We’re all about less stress on this page, so let’s go over this simple but stylish outfit for the women who dread getting dressed.
The Base
The base piece for this look is a sleeveless spaghetti strap slip dress. The one pictured in the photos was purchased at Marshalls a few years back, and I haven’t been able to let it go. Mostly because of how versatile it is. This slip dress can be dressed up or dressed down depending on the occasion. Linked below is a similar one I found on Amazon for a steal! It is currently on sale and all sizes and colors are available!
The Chunky Sweater
Adding a Chucky sweater on top of your slip dress makes for the perfect work to play outfit. Wearing a sweater adds a bit of professionalism. When you leave the office take that thing off and you still look made up with a beautiful dress for dinner or drinks after a hard day at work. A little trick to get that cropped sweater look is to add a belt underneath around your waist/riblet area. I know that’s not the correct terminology but you get what I’m saying. Right? You’re going to want to tuck the bottom of the sweater into the middle of your belt. I have linked the exact belt I’m wearing (you can’t see it) and a similar link for the chunky sweater below.
The Accessories
For the finishing touches grab your favorite bag, some nude colored heels, and some dainty jewelry. I’m a gold girl, but this outfit would look fantastic paired with rose gold or silver pieces. The purpose for the nude heels is no matter the color of your dress, sweater, or bag nude heels will go well. If you can think back to the wardrobe basics article you’ll remember that a solid pair of nude/tan heels are on the list!
Final Thoughts
Stop getting hung up on what to wear to the office. Most employers these days don’t require a super professional get up or disgusting pantyhose. Thank you millennial bosses HA! But they do want some level of giving a f***. At the end of the day the saying still rings true — when you look good you feel good. Feel unstoppable when you walk into that drab office. Be the go getter you knew you always could be.
