Spring Fashion Trends You Can Expect to See in 2023

Who’s ready to retire their winter coats?! Spring is upon us and the latest trends have been announced.  What we’re going to be seeing a lot of this season is what I can only describe as 90’s / early 2000’s aesthetic.

My mom has this saying “fashion always repeats itself”. More than likely you’ll be hearing this as well because dang is it true.  Make sure to check out the colors that will be trending this spring as well at the bottom of this article. Now let’s get into it!

1. Classic Pieces - Always in style:

Classic, clean, simple pieces will always be in style.  If you remember the blog post about wardrobe staple pieces you will remember this being the main topic.  If you haven’t gotten access to the staple pieces blog post you can subscribe with your email and it will go directly to your inbox - you’ll also receive a free printable checklist.

2. Sheer Tops

I was too young to participate in this trend in the 90’s but best believe you’ll be seeing me with at least 1 - 2 sheer tops this year.  Women are wearing classic spaghetti strap tops under sheet button ups, or lace bralettes.  Either way I am so here for it!  Have you seen the movie Clueless? Ladies seriously, its our Cher era.

Sheer tops are perfect for transitioning from winter to spring - then spring to summer.  Since the fabric is sheer its breathable on warmer days.  One of the main reasons this type of fabric is coming back is it radiates pure femininity and can be paired well with skirts and jeans.

3. Slip Dresses:

Really excited about this piece!  Slip dresses can be dressed up or dressed down depending on the vibe you’re going for. Needing a classy dress for a dinner date? Slip dress with heels.  Want to go to lunch with the girls?  Slip dress with tennis shoes. Slip dresses are coming back in style because of how functional they are.  The look you are trying to achieve solely relies on your accessories. That’s what makes these dresses so fun and trendy.

4. Low Rise Jeans:

What are your thoughts on low rise jeans?  In my opinion they are disgusto-barfo and this is my least favorite trend that’s coming back in 2023.  My hip dips from 2006 still haven’t recovered… or forgiven me for that matter. Picture this: It’s Jr. High / high school and you’re tightening up your thick chunky belt as tight as it goes to keep your low rise jeans from slipping any lower and exposing your forbidden starfish.  Doesn’t matter how tight you synch that belt - when you bend over or sit down you start having a crack attack.

Oh and can we mention the SMALL pockets in those jeans?! Basically non existent. I personally believe the person who created low rise jeans hates women.  Who want’s to spend a majority of their day pulling their pants up? Not me - sign me out. I think we will only be seeing the younger generation in hip huggers because us millennials have been traumatized by them.

5. Baggy Jeans - like, pretty baggy. (Cargos and flares)

YES YES YES! Flares are back this Spring, but with a twist. The bigger the better!  Now when I say bigger I’m not talking about a pair of jeans that you’re swimming in.  Think more along the lines of what you’ve been seeing on Pinterest.  Think Hailey Bieber - who undoubtedly has the cool girl essence figured out.

Some common baggy jeans you’ll be seeing are flares, cargo pants, 90’s style, and dad jeans! High waisted baggy jeans can do wonders for your figure as well.  Not only do they make your waist look tiny, they also accentuate that booty.  Baggy jeans also seems to be a “That Girl” staple piece.  Styling flares, cargo pants, or dad jeans is quite simple. If you keep up with fashion trends the best way to style baggy pants is either with an oversized sweater and small bag for an effortless cool girl look or pair them with a sheer top that is mentioned above!  Give me all the 90/2000’s aesthetic!

6. Maxi Skirts:

Maxi skirts of all forms have made their entrance in runway shows in 2023 which means we can expect to see a lot of them this Spring.  Form fitting, low rise, mid rise, and asymmetrical are hitting the shelves at stores, and they’re going fast.  Maxi skirts can be a very functional piece in your wardrobe and they typically are known for being really comfortable.  Some women aren’t into wearing dresses - which I get - so this longer skirt can be your happy medium.

Megan Scott

Hi friends! My name is Megan and I’m so happy to see you here! I started this blog as a creative space to share my favorite outfits, shops, and hopefully spark some styling inspiration for you!

A little background story about me:

I live for helping strong and savvy women feel confident in their clothing. No matter your shape, size, or economic status you too can dress like a baddie — and do it on a budget.

You do not have to break the bank in order to be stylish — and I am here to show you how.

Made up with Megan was a tag I started using on my Instagram when I was doing creative self portraits at home and it just kinda stuck with me.

I love photography whether it is for fashion, fun, or for brands collaborations so I wanted a name that would incorporate all the things I’m passionate about.

I am a wife and mother to two teenage boys and I currently reside in the outskirts of Jacksonville, FL. I started blogging a few years ago without any direction or actual knowledge. After being tired of not seeing any traction I changed gears and started working on the things that actually spark joy to my soul. Fashion.

If you are someone who is looking for affordable fashion finds, cute home decor, or simply just looking for styling inspiration this blog is for you. Welcome!
